Annie Pichan Voice Studio
Fostering intuitive singers
who know what they’re doing, and why.
Knowing the why gives us the freedom to experiment independently with intention. Your instincts guide the way.
At Annie Pichan Voice Studio (APVS), my goal is to cultivate an environment where singers listen to their body’s innate wisdom.
That environment is rooted in:
Compassion and care
Learner-centered education and collaboration
Permission, encouragement, and curiosity
Joy and play
I invite students to experiment, take artistic risks, and embrace the messiness that comes with growth and discovery. Observation, listening, intuition, and reflection are at the heart of how we work. There’s real integrity in staying curious as we discover who we are as artists and what we want to say. I’m here to support you on your artistic journey.

Testimonials
“I’ve agreed to sing in an online ad, something I never thought I'd do!"
- Jamie W.
Annie has been an amazing teacher, and I'm so grateful I found her. My voice has grown so much: it's more powerful and resonant, and I now sing songs I never thought I could. The breathing work we've done together has made a huge difference, and I feel far more confident singing in front of others. I'm so thankful for everything she's helped me achieve, and I know my progress will only keep growing.
“I notice far less strain when I perform and practice.” -
Andres M.
In the year and a half I’ve worked with Annie, I’ve gained so much confidence in my voice, and I notice far less strain. I love being challenged, and Annie strikes a great balance of praise and challenge that keeps me pushing myself in a kind, supportive way.
"I've grown not only as a student, but as a person."
- Ethan N.
I started voice lessons to pursue my interest in music and to gain confidence in my own voice. Annie’s expertise in her craft, along with her kind and empathetic approach, has created an environment which allowed me to evolve not only as a student, but as a person as well.
"I finally had the confidence to sing the National Anthem in front of a crowd!"
- Matthew B.
I'd wanted to take voice lessons for a long time but never knew where to start or who to choose. From the first time I met Annie, I knew she was the right teacher for me. She immediately identified the issues I was having and taught me to sing with less strain and effort. Since then, I've received compliments on how much my voice has improved, and I've found a renewed love for singing. I'm excited to keep growing, and I'd recommend Annie to anyone who wants to become a better, more confident singer.
"Instead of saying 'I can't do that,' I say 'I just need the right technique.'"
- Abigail C.
Since starting voice lessons with Annie Pichan, I've noticed tremendous differences. When I see music with notes higher than an E5, I don't panic anymore. I've become so much more confident in my voice, especially when belting.
Evidence-Based Voice Training,
Taught with Care.
Think of voice lessons like working with a personal trainer. A good trainer doesn’t hand you random exercises based on what has worked for their body. They assess where you are, identify your goals, and choose specific exercises based on your specific needs.
Your voice works the same way. Every exercise I assign is individualized, well-reasoned and task-specific, chosen to develop a particular skill. My teaching philosophy is grounded in the Evidence-Based Vocal Pedagogy (EBVP) framework introduced by Dr. Kari Ragan in her 2018 Journal of Singing article.
training rests on three pillars:
Voice Research
Current evidence from voice science, acoustics, phonetics, anatomy, motor learning, and related disciplines.
Teacher Expertise and Experience
12+ years of voice teaching and 25 year career in singing, performing, and recording.
Ongoing professional development, mentorship, and teaching observation.
Student-Centered Training
Students are active agents in their learning, helping shape their goals, reflect on their progress, and discover what works for their voice. Every lesson is tailored to each singer’s learning style and artistic identity.
this approach means:
You’ll always know what each exercise is for and how it serves your voice.
Technical concepts are explained in an approachable, playful way.
Progress is intentional, observable, and measurable.
Instruction and exercises evolve as your voice develops.
